What to Expect

Areas of Focus: Athlete Specific

  • As an athlete, one can experience a variety of mental health issues. My goal is to provide a safe space to explore and address these mental health concerns.

  • In order to optimize your athletic performance we will address the mental aspects of sports such as focus, motivation, confidence and goal-setting, as well as, develop skills and strategies that will contribute to your peak performance.

  • You will learn how to deal with the complexities of social media and the impact it has on your psyche.

  • We will develop coping strategies and mental routines to manage the anxiety and pressure you experience while playing sports.

  • As an athlete you will often face high levels of stress related to competition, training, and/or external pressures. You will learn to implement relaxation, mindfulness, and other stress-reduction techniques.

  • Experiencing injuries can be a significant aspect of an athlete’s career. We will work together to develop coping skills to assist with the emotional and psychological impact of injuries, help navigate the rehab process, and provide emotional support.

  • You will learn about the interconnectedness of the mind and body and to incorporate visualization and mindfulness practices to help improve the mind-body connection.

  • We will work to enhance your self-esteem and confidence by addressing self-doubt, fear of failure, and other psychological barriers that might hinder your optimal performance.

  • We will address interpersonal dynamics, improve your communication skills and conflict resolution.

  • As an athlete you may face challenges when transitioning out of your competitive career. We will discuss identity, set post-sport goals, and explore emotional aspects of life after sport.
